Dante Bowe thrives on authenticity. Despite missteps in his career, during a recent sit down with Maverick City Music’s Jonathan Jay and Norman Gyamfi for episode two of the Mavericks on the Mic podcast, he acknowledges where he went wrong and said he has learned from his mistakes.

“I feel like if I could go back in time which I can’t, I would probably bring people along my journey and make all my wins their wins,” he said.

Sadly, Bowe was dealt an “L” when he parted ways with Maverick City Music after he posted a full frontal nude image of himself to his Instagram story. Bowe also posted a clip of him singing a Bad Bunny song, but Jay and Gyamfi said their professional relationship with Bowe didn’t end because of that. Bowe, Jay and Gyamfi all said he wasn’t kicked out of the group, but Maverick City asked him to sit down for six months and he couldn’t do it.

“Being young people in a group, we had plenty of stuff pop up throughout our lives,” Bowe told the hosts. “We were spending years of our time together and growing at the same time. But I’m talking about as far as kicking out or sitting down, it was this instance only that it was ever brought up. At the time, we didn’t know what would come of the photo. So, it could have been huge. It could have been what it was which was nothing. But at the same time, it happened.”

Bowe revealed he was mad at being asked to sit down for six months despite Maverick City offering to still pay him. He doesn’t regret making the decision to go solo and appreciates the brotherhood he has with Jay and Gyamfi now.

“I don’t regret leaving,” he said. “I think it was right for me. I also don’t regret being friends now, coming back and talking and building our brotherhood now. I feel like I needed to go away. I needed to build something from the ground up even if it’s like not as prolific as the group I was in before.”

Now, Bowe is basking in his solo journey. He makes R&B music from time to time. He still makes Christian music too. However, he doesn’t know where he’ll end up.

“I want to be successful, but I don’t know where I’ll end up,” he said. “I might do a worship album. I love Jesus first before anything [or] anybody. So, I might do a worship album or if something is mixed and mastered and it’s a hit, I might drop it. It might be an R&B record.”
