Tichina Arnold proves that she is a timeless act and a Black cultural icon as she was recognized amongst her peers as one of the elite in the entertainment industry.
Arnonld was nominated for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as Tina Butler in The Neighborhood at the 56th NAACP Image Awards
A platform Arnold is very familiar with, as she won the Inaugural award for Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 1996 for her character Pam on the hit television series Martin.

Tichina was accompanied by her daughter Alijah Kai, an artist and performer in her own right,
The two exuded an effectious motherly-daughter bonding moment with RNB Philly’s ASHMAC as they talked about supporting each other.
“I’m here to support my daughter who’s not getting not one award tonight” Tichina said jokingly. “I’m up for 3 but you know… it is what it is! We’re working towards that!”
“I can’t do it without [Alijah’s] support because I taught her how to support, so that’s how that works.

Arnold also spoke to the award being bigger the trophy, and how are the real reward is being reminded everyday about how iconic her art is.
“My favorite part is not so much about the award.. awards to me are, when I leave here and a guy on the street says ‘oh I to watch you all the time, I really enjoy you’. I get rewarded everyday, this is just a culmination of what that is.”

Alijah noted the things that make her mother an exemplary support figure and what was she was taught as a child growing up.
Didn’t matter if you were homeless or you were family — my mom is the person that you would call if you need anything… just earlier she was like ‘if you need me, you call me!’” Alijah explained. “Just saying that and you know following the actions.. watching her do that has been my biggest inspiration.”
