“The Promised Land,” a new viral comedy series inspired by the book of Exodus and featuring the cast and crew from “The Chosen,” is set to begin filming its first season this upcoming October. Described as the perfect combination of “where Exodus meets The Office,” the series chronicles the lengthy journey of Moses and the Israelites as they make their way through the desert over the course of 40 years. Since its viral release on YouTube, the pilot episode has garnered over 500,000 views and continues to attract more viewers daily. With 61,000 subscribers gained following the debut and 5.7 million impressions, the early achievements for “The Promised Land” are looking rather promising.
As the video gains traction worldwide, with views spanning 138 countries, “The Chosen” creator and director, Dallas Jenkins, has expressed his full support and excitement for the new series.
“The world needs a show like this. Seriously,” Jenkins said.
Despite being a comedy, Mitch Hudson, writer and director, shared the importance of equally making sure the series is viewed from a Biblical standpoint.
“While this is a comedy, we have been diligent to keep the Biblical material sacred,” he shared.
Through both entertainment and doctrine, viewers will be able to appreciate the stories told while still enjoying a good laugh.
The Promised Land stars Wasim No’mani and Shereen Khan in the roles of Moses and Miriam, with the rest of the cast portraying other prominent figures from the book of Exodus.
