DOE sends a message to the haters with her newest single, “So What.”

The uptempo tune is one of the edgier additions to the lineup from her 2024 album, “Heart of a Human.” She used the song to address the slack artists like herself often get on social media and inadvertently gave listeners a blueprint on how to “gather” someone in a Godly way.

Here’s a little taste:

“Everybody got them strong opinions, oh no

Talking like they walking in my shoes and they know

Making up scenarios, they hide in they phone

Can’t just leave it alone (Don’t do it, girl, it’s not worth it)

Twitter wars in my face and

I don’t like what you sayin’

Giving into temptation

Passive aggression

Keep it up and you gon’ find me in your DMs

I’ma get this off my chest, and l’ma repent

Uh, so what?

I ain’t tryna be cool, I’m tryna be love”

The two-time GMA Dove Award-winning singer-songwriter, partnered with four-time Grammy Award-winning rap artist and Reach Records co-founder, Lecrae, to bring the track to life. Together they produced a soulful song with southern influences.

In the accompanying music video, the friends and veteran lyricists enact the scenes described in the lyrics with a playful Direct Message battle. DOE’s friends work to convince her to be the bigger person with a viral quote from social media, “Don’t do it girl, it’s not worth it.” The video also shows Lecrae “responding” to negative comments with a fictitious live to address them.

In real life, social media is having the opposite reaction as described in the popular record. Followers praised the collaboration with comments like, “DOE X CRAE going crazy!!,” “Your song and album are FIRE,” and “Versatility at its best.”

Comedian, @notkarltonbanks on Instagram, employed two characters from his popular skits – Bun and Squint – to share his excitement for the release. In a minute-long video, the characters hilariously vibe to the song, pleasantly surprised by the artist’s fresh sound.

Popular dancer, Dejah Hector, even choreographed a new routine for the song.

DOE premiered 10 new tracks on the “Heart of a Human” album, including another popular single, ‘Right Where You Are.’ On the summer 2024 release, the artist presented songs with upbeat, R&B, and urban tones – a bold shift from the mellow, smooth tunes fans are used to. Regardless of the sound, the message stays the same. DOE uses her music to glorify God and spread the gospel of Jesus.

The “When I Pray” singer’s popularity has climbed in recent years but longtime fans recognize the songstress is not new to this. DOE’s introduction to fame began in 2010 as the lead on the hit worship song, “He Wants It All,” performed by her family’s band, Forever Jones. She’s since collaborated with Jonathan McReynolds on his hit “Cycles” and has been featured on other tunes by Tauren Wells, Housefires, Maverick City Music, and Israel Houghton, and more. Her other work includes two EPs (“DOE” and “Note to Self”) and her first album, “Clarity.”
