Cuddled on the signature yellow loveseat, Emmanuel “Da Truth” Lambert and Bri Babineaux, fought back tears when discussing their love story with Laterras R. Whitfield this week on the Dear Future Wifey podcast.
“Bri feels like redemption to me,” Emmanuel shared after being asked why he believed God brought the two together. His heartfelt response summed his reflections on the relationship during the two-hour conversation.
Da’ TRUTH & Bri Babineaux Get Married
After ending a 21-year marriage and enduring a grueling single season, Emmanuel was desperate for a second chance at love. “My prayer for my season of aloneness was, ‘God, if you would, be gracious to me. Grant me one more opportunity to do this thing the way you intended for it to be done.”
His second chance came in the form of a Louisiana native and fellow musician.
Bri is most recognized for her viral worship moments and incomparable voice. But when telling her side of the story, it was clear her new husband saw her for who she is beyond the lights.
Unlike Emmanuel, marriage was not on the radar for the ‘My Everything’ singer. As a fellow divorcee and mother to 3-year-old Eli, her focus was on being the best version of herself–by herself. “He asked me if I wanted to be married again and I told him no,” she explained. “If that was something I would consider, it would have to be God ordained. The man would literally have to come and sweep me off my feet.”

The shift in perspective came when she saw Emmanuel’s intentionality. “He said, ‘I want to get to know you. I want to date you. I want to fly you to a discreet location and we have dinner. And I want to do things you want to do.’ I’ve never had a man approach me like that,” she shared. Bri also detailed that Emmanuel made early efforts to build a relationship with her family. Most importantly, he treated her son as his own.
“When you’ve found your person, all of what you thought was supposed to be will be erased. When it’s right, it’s right,” she said of her change of heart.
After just eight months of dating privately, the couple tied the knot in an intimate ceremony last month. An Instagram carousel of wedding day pictures and a sweet caption announced their union. It read, “Some moments in life feel too big for words–this is one of them. With full hearts and teary eyes, we are so blessed to share that we’ve said “I do” and begun our forever together.”
In tow were 50 of their closest family and friends. The bridal party consisted of singer, Kenny Lattimore and pastor, Sam Collier as groomsmen. Gospel artist, Jekalyn Carr and Bri’s close friend, Maria Vidrine, stood as her bridesmaids. Gospel icon, Kirk Franklin, officiated the ceremony.
The Lambert’s want people who hear their story to know there is hope after divorce. “We are not advocates for divorce. But if in fact you do get divorced, there can be life and redemption on the other side.”
