Where were you in 2000? I was 10 years old and I don’t remember much outside of the “doomsday” craze. You know, when people thought the world was going to end. Experts thought technology would fail and that the earth as we knew it would fall apart. Well, we survived! And a lot did change that decade—for the better: broadband internet, mobile technology, digital music. Let’s take a look at gospel music released in 2000.

If the year 2000 gave us nothing else, it gave us good music to help carry us through the unknown of the beginning of the millennium. The year had its ups and downs, but we were still thankful for it all. In hindsight, we’re even more thankful for the music that inspired us to keep going, push hard, thank God and be hopeful, whereas contemporary gospel songs by Mary Mary, Kirk Franklin, Smokie Norful and more helped open doors for culture-shifting lifestyle music that was really relatable.
