Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is taking one of the first steps to recover from his third concussion in his professional football career. According to ESPN, this week, he will meet with neurologists to get a critical update on his recovery process after he was supposed to get tested last week.
ESPN Senior NFL Insider Adam Schefter is told Tua feels okay after his concussion during the September 12th game against the Buffalo Bills. He is required to miss at least three games while on injured reserve.

Tua sustained his injury when he ran for a first down and his helmet collided with Bills player Damar Hamlin. Last year, Hamlin made headlines after he went into cardiac arrest during a game. He has since worked his way back to the football field. The Dolphins went on to lose that game 31-10.
“He was in good spirits,” Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel told reporters about Tua after the game. “My thought was concern. I was just worried about my guy. It’s not something that you ever want to be a part of, you hope not to.”
The 26-year-old has a history of concussions. He suffered from two of them during the 2022 season. First, he injured his head during a game against the Bills. He exited the field before returning later on. The consultant who cleared him to play was later fired.
Tua played a few days later and ended up with a concussion during a game against the Cincinnati Bengals. That left people wondering if he returned to the field too soon. He was diagnosed with another concussion later in the same season after a game against the Green Bay Packers.
Back in 2019, during his final college season playing for Alabama, Tua was diagnosed with a concussion and other injuries. The quarterback was the fifth overall pick by the Dolphins in the 2020 NFL Draft. He’s now the subject of conversation about retirement for his overall health.
